Aisha Tanveer

Painter | Islamabad, Pakistan

Aisha Tanveer (born 2000, Pakistan) is a Pakistan based visual artist currently working in Islamabad. She graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), majoring in Painting, from the National College of Arts (NCA), Rawalpindi.

Working primarily with oil paints, Tanveer’s practice explores the relationship between underpainting, layered surfaces, and subtle gestures. Her paintings evolve through a process of building and withholding allowing washes, grids, and marks to coexist—creating narratives rooted in observation, memory, and introspection. Drawing inspiration from a life shaped by travel and storytelling, her work reflects on time, identity, and the quiet moments of everyday life.

Tanveer approaches painting from a reflective, third person perspective, translating fleeting observations into visual stories that invite viewers to contemplate the unseen and the mundane. Her work engages with broader cultural and societal contexts, questioning how identity is constructed beyond colonisation and media influence, while balancing personal expression with collective interpretation.

Since graduating, she has participated in multiple group exhibitions across Pakistan, including at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), VM Art Gallery, Artcade, Artlane, Mainframe Gallery, and Kaleido Kontemporary. Her work has also been featured on the Khamsa Online Gallery platform.

In addition to her independent studio practice, Tanveer has worked as a Curatorial Intern at Satrang Gallery and is currently serving as an Assistant Curator at Dastaangoi Gallery, Islamabad.
