Anjali Aggarwal

Born and based in Chandigarh, this visual artist, educator, designer, and researcher has devoted more than three decades to exploring diverse creative disciplines, including drawing, painting, illustration, photography, and visual communication. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Applied Art from Government College of Art, Chandigarh, along with a Diploma in Multimedia, her practice seamlessly bridges traditional artistic sensibilities with contemporary visual expression.

Nature remains the central force in her artistic vision. Her paintings often feature animals, trees, and organic forms that transcend their physical presence to become symbols of emotion, spirituality, and inner reflection. Leopards, tigers, and other wildlife emerge as powerful protagonists, rendered with expressive brushwork, rich textures, and evocative colour palettes. Whether monochromatic or vibrant, her compositions invite viewers into a world where nature and imagination coexist.

The recurring presence of flora and fauna in her work creates narratives that are both decorative and symbolic. Beneath their visual beauty lies a sense of mystery, with animals conveying emotions through subtle gestures, postures, and penetrating gazes. These elements transform her canvases into poetic explorations of joy, introspection, and the interconnectedness of life.

Over the years, her work has been showcased in numerous national and international exhibitions, including presentations at Rashtriya Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; the International Biennial of Miniature Art in Poland; and exhibitions and residencies in Italy, Mexico, and China. Her artworks are held in public and private collections in India and abroad.

A recipient of several prestigious honours from institutions including the Indian Academy of Fine Arts, AIFACS, Lalit Kala Akademi, Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation, and the Government of Punjab, she continues to contribute actively to the cultural landscape as an artist, curator, jury member, mentor, and advocate for creative education and artistic excellence.
