Dr. Rakesh Bani is a renowned Indian printmaker and art educator whose work spans nearly three decades of artistic and academic excellence. He earned his BFA and MFA in Graphics (Printmaking) from Indira Kala Sangeet University, Khairagarh (C.G.) in 1998 and 2000, followed by a Ph.D. in 2013 with a research focus on Indian printmaking traditions.

For over 28 years, Dr. Bani has explored and mastered diverse techniques of printmaking, creating works celebrated for their innovation, precision, and visual depth. Since 2001, he has been dedicated to teaching, first at the Government College of Art, Chandigarh, and since 2007 as Associate Professor in the Department of Fine Arts, Kurukshetra University, Haryana.

His distinguished career includes more than 55 national and international awards, among them the National Academy Award (Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, 2005), Primo Premio Arte Grafica Digitale Senior, Italy (2024), and Third Prize, International Biennale of Miniature Arts, Romania (2024). His prints have been exhibited in over 130 international biennales and triennials across more than 25 countries, including Japan, China, Italy, France, Brazil, and Romania.

Dr. Bani has also conducted and participated in numerous international printmaking workshops and residencies in Japan, China, Macau, Kazakhstan, and India, contributing to cross-cultural artistic exchange and the global development of contemporary graphic art.

Currently, he continues to teach and inspire emerging artists as Associate Professor of Printmaking at Kurukshetra University, nurturing the next generation of creative thinkers with the same passion and commitment that defines his own practice.
