Sabrina Ferwagner

Sabrina Ferwagner

Sculptor | Rauenberg, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany

Sabrina Ferwagner is a contemporary sculptor whose work explores the essence of human existence with striking immediacy and emotional depth. Based in the Malschenberg meadows of the Rhine-Neckar district, she is a member of GEDOK Heidelberg and works primarily with locally sourced wood, carving most of her sculptures with a chainsaw. The raw character of the material becomes part of her artistic expression, grounding her work in authenticity and a deep connection to nature. She also creates pieces in stone, clay, bronze, and iron.

Ferwagner’s artistic language is defined by a powerful interplay of planning and intuition, as well as the balance between figuration and abstraction. Her sculptures—often life-sized, free-standing forms—reflect both the physical and psychological dimensions of being human. Her curved female figures convey warmth, vitality, and presence, while her more abstract, archetypal works address universal questions of emotion, transformation, and the inner human journey.

In her current work, she focuses on states such as fear, anger, and hurt, examining how these inner tensions arise and how they may be released or transcended through compassion and self-understanding. Her art becomes a visual dialogue about acceptance, vulnerability, and the courage to evolve.

Ferwagner studied Media Informatics at the University of Applied Sciences for Printing and Media in Stuttgart. Her foundation in sculpture began through years of private lessons and workshops with sculptor Beate Leinmüller, later expanding through self-directed study. Since 2022, she has also worked as a technical assistant in Leinmüller’s sculpture courses. Active in the regional art community, she regularly contributes to exhibitions as both artist and curator.
